Three Lithuanian men who stole 11 pairs of shoes during a theft spree have been ordered to pay more than €400 in compensation to the shops they robbed.
The three men also stole a toothbrush worth €340 which they sent to one of the men's sisters living in Lithuania.
The men also stole alcohol from Tesco in Letterkenny during the robbery spree in recent days.
Karolis Pakrosnis, 24, and Lukas Gaidjurgis, 19, of Sea View, Rathmullan were charged with handling stolen property after Gardaí stopped a car at Ramelton Road in Letterkenny yesterday, Tuesday, October 20th.
The property included 11 pairs of shoes worth €600 and a karaoke speaker worth €120, the property of Heatons of Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.
A third defendant Viaceslav Kavalevskij , 20, was also charged with stealing the shoes and the speaker.
Gaidjurgis was further charged with stealing an eight pack of Guinness worth €13 from Tesco on October 20th and an Oral B toothbrush worth €340 from Boots on Main Street on October 17th.
He also stole three bottles of spirits from Tesco worth €85.57.
Defence solicitor, Patrick Gallagher said this had been a sobering experience for his clients who have been in Ireland for up to a year and worked in various kitchens and factories.
They were not working at present but hoped to be back working for Christmas.
Mr Gallagher requested that the matter be adjourned to allow the defendants to raise €440 to reimburse the injured parties. Judge Paul Kelly remanded each of the three on their own bond of €100 to 16th December.
"I'll see how the behave in the meantime," added Judge Kelly.
