A man has appeared before Letterkenny District Court charged with sexual assault.
A garda told Judge Conal Gibbons that he arrested the accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
An application made by the defendant’s solicitor requesting a complete ban on reporting of the case was rejected by Judge Gibbons.
Under reporting restrictions ordered by Judge Gibbons the date and location of the offence cannot be reported and the age of the defendant cannot be revealed.
Garda inspector Michael Harrison told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed the case be dealt with by summary disposal.
Judge Gibbons said he would let the issue of disposal be dealt with by the resident judge Paul Kelly.
The defendant was released on bail with eight conditions to appear on October 5th.
