A man accused of carrying out a vicious assault which resulted in the victim receiving 35 stitches to the face, has been found not guilty following a 3 day trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court. 
Shane McHugh from Killygordon was accused of bottling Mr. James Finlay Jr outside Jacksons hotel in August 2010.
The court heard how Nightclub revellers clashed with a wedding party inside the hotel which then escalated outside the main entrance of the Hotel.
It was during this melee that James Finlay Jr was seriously assaulted, he was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital and then moved to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry were he received 35 stitches to his face.
He showed his scars which were still visible to the members of the Jury panel.
Following 3 days of hearing evidence from both sides of the case, the jury delivered a not Guilty verdict and Shane McHugh was cleared of all charges that were made against him.
