A LETTERKENNY man facing theft charges was unable to source legal representation in court this week.
Frances Lynn was before Letterkenny District Court in connection with an alleged theft.
Lynn, of Glenveagh Court Letterkenny, is charged with stealing a fuse and fuse holders on October 25, 2019.
Lynn, who was present in court this week, faces a further charge of failing to appear in court on a previous date.
Lynn represented himself. The accused said he was not working at the moment and asked the court to appoint a solicitor.
None of the legal representatives present in court were prepared to act on Lynn’s behalf.
Asked if he intended to contest the case, Lynn told Judge Alan Mitchell: ‘Oh yes’.
Judge Mitchell advised Lynn to contact the Law Society of Ireland and ask them to nominate a solicitor to act.
Garda McDermott gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of Lynn, who made no reply when charged.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecution directed summary disposal of the case in the district court.
Judge Alan Mitchell accepted jurisdiction in the case and remanded Lynn to appear on September 27.
Bail was granted on Lynn’s own bond of €300.
