A Co Donegal man has been told he must contact Gardai before he attempts to see his new-born baby.
Sean Gibson appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with assault and criminal damage on January 22nd at his girlfriend’s mother house in Ballybofey.
The court was told that Gibson, whose girlfriend is eight months pregnant, was arrested and has been in custody since.
The court heard how Gibson kicked in the door of his girlfriend’s home after she refused to see him when he tried to apologise and this made him worse.
He was arrested and made a full admission to criminal damage and assault when he was taken to Letterkenny Garda station.
The court was told that his girlfriend was now living in fear of Gibson.
The accused man told the court that he was taking cannabis and valium tablets.
Judge Paul Kelly said he was agreeing to bail but said he was making a number of strict conditions of that bail.
He ordered Gibson to live with his mother Carmel at her home at Hill Head, Castlefin and to sign on at Lifford Garda station three times each week.
He told Gibson not to visit Ballybofey or Stranorlar and not to have any contact with his girlfriend.
Judge Kelly said that Gibson must also contact his solicitor Gordon Curley and the Gardai if he wishes to contact his girlfriend when she gives birth to their baby.
The case was adjourned until March 6th next to allow for directions form the Director of Public Prosecutions.
