A Donegal man who was found in possession of cannabis when pulled over by Gardaí has had his case adjourned.

Shane Higgins, 23, with an address at 45 Parkview Letterkenny admitted to being in unlawful possession of cannabis.

Garda Enda Jennings stopped the defendant's car at Magherawarden, Kerrykeel on June 5th of this year.

Garda Jennings told the court, "I came across the vehicle in a car park close to Portsalon and approached the driver.

"I got a strong smell of cannabis - and after searching the car I found a small amount of cannabis.

"Mr Higgins, the driver of the vehicle, admitted the cannabis was his and took responsibility for it being in his car.

"He was polite and co-operative and the street value of the cannabis was about €10.

"He was very forthcoming with me, and had no previous convictions.

Judge Paul Kelly issued a warrant for Mr Higgins to appear before him in 2016 and adjourned the case.
